Cosmetics with glitter – Yes or no? Let’s check it!
Welcome to my new post where I’ll be talking all about cosmetics with glitter! Which one of us hasn’t experimented with it back in the day?
It’ll be sort of a journey to the past because as you probably know, glitter was a thing mainly in the 90s disco style. I decided to do a brief retrospection and give it some thought as to whether cosmetics with glitter can also be trendy today.
Allow me to start from the top. My memories of cosmetics with glitter.
What do I associate with glitter cosmetics?
There are two prominent connotations in my mind.
- Cosmetics with glitter are a relic of the fashion trend of a couple of decades back. It’s the colorful, disco 80s and 90s when we soaked the colors and felt free in expressing ourselves. I think that nowadays we tend to be more conservative so cosmetics with glitter may cause a surprise reaction.
- Glitter cosmetics are also New Year’s party vibe. All year long, we choose more casual, matt colors so that on this one night we can shine like a true star. There’s a method to this madness to feel special at least this once but personally I believe that a good time for extravagance and glitter is always.
Why you should use glitter cosmetics way more?
On the day to day basis, we are anxious about the use of glitter. Perhaps it’s for the best because I, for one, am more than aware of the harm you can inflict on yourself (by using too much of it or applying it incorrectly). However, I encourage you to take a chance and experiment with glitter! Any volunteers?
Glitter based cosmetics can be a great day to day accessory. A bit of glitter highlighter or eyeshadow with glitter can add elegance and chic to even the simplest and most casual stylization.
What’s curious, glitter cosmetics – in spite of being very expressive – can be used for face contouring and to camouflage imperfections. How come? By drawing the attention to a different part of the face, e.g. an eyelid, you make any flaws less prominent such as the wide nose or narrow lips.
Glitter based cosmetics – my faves
Now it’s time for some recommendations, that is (in my opinion) the best cosmetics with glitter that are worth a try.
Loose glitter by Anastasia Beverly Hills
It is not a cosmetic with glitter per se, but loose glitter that can redefine practically any of your cosmetics. Add some oil and you’ll gain skin highlighting marvel. Apply some of it to the eyelid and any of your make-up ideas will become a work of art. Obviously, in most cases, it will require to use glitter glue (it somehow needs to stick to the skin after all), but it’s worth it because the effect is stunning. This one is definitely my fave glitter cosmetic for make-up, but not only.
NYX glitter liquid liner
Another option is my favorite glitter liner by NYX. It’s affordable but long-lasting and easy to apply. It is an option for all clumsy people who tend to spill the glitter all over the bathroom. Here, one stroke is enough to create an effective glitter line. It’ll look beautiful and provide shine to every make-up style. When it comes to glitter, eyeliner is probably the safest option worth trying if you opt for make-up with a tad of edge.
Glitter lipstick by Dior
It is a proposition for all of you who want to go wild in their make-up. If we’re talking cosmetics I own, this one is my precious treasure. I got it from my sister who knew I dreamt of a Dior in my cosmetic bag. Guess what? I won’t exaggerate by saying that it is the best lipstick I ever had the pleasure of using – deep color, unbelievable durability, great texture, and this glitter. Perfect for all the glitter make-up fans.
Glitter gel by Sephora Collection
Lastly, a more affordable cosmetic by Sephora. The glitter gel has a great price, especially when you take into consideration the fact that it can be used on hair, face, and body. It has a light texture and it is best to apply simply with your fingers. Just a bit of it can make your make-up more expressive and body to gain a subtle glow.
These are the most important cosmetics with glitter in my bag. Though these are not the only ones. Let me know if you know any of them and send over your propositions for cosmetics with glitter. 🙂
Kisses!
