SKINCARE: WHAT SHOULD YOU AVOID, AND WHAT SHOULD YOU REMEMBER?

Learn six most important skincare rules. Find out if you unconsciously make some common skincare mistakes that are responsible for worsening your skin condition. Also, learn how to improve your skin quickly.

RULE 1
Leading healthy lifestyle is essential.

The best and the most effective cosmetic is sleep. We need from 6 to 8 hours of nighttime rest to allow our skin carry out all its self-regenerating processes. You can’t expect your skin to look gorgeous if you keep sleeping less than 6 hours. It’s hard to stress the importance of leading healthy lifestyle enough – there is no marvelous beauty product that would help you if you don’t get enough sleep, if you refrain from physical activity, if you sit for most of a day and if you are constantly stressed out and anxious. Take a break for a moment, stop chasing things that are impossible to catch and focus on what is really important – your health. This will bear fruit pretty soon.

RULE 2
You are what you eat and drink.

This old saying that we are what we eat is actually true. Everything that you supply your body with has an influence over the state of our skin, hair and nails. A healthy, balanced and nutrient-rich diet is crucial if you want to enjoy flawless skin. If you don’t break the bad-eating habit, you will cause damage to your organizm. Making sure that your body receives adequate hydration during a day is important too. Also, pay attention to the stimulants that you use. It’s better to give up drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes if you care for having beautiful and young skin. It all matters.

RULE 3
Sun is the sworn enemy of skin.

Scientist keep reminding us how harmful UV rays are, yet we keep exposing our bodies to the sun to get a tan. Sadly, many of us aren’t aware that the brown shade that appears on our bodies is a defense reaction of our skin – it tries to protect itself against the sun rays. Therefore, if you don’t use sunscreens, prepare yourself for: losing hydration, damaged collagen fibers, wrinkles, discolorations and other signs of skin ageing. This is what makes sun protection so important.

RULE 4
Hydration (humectants and emollients) is a must.

Home skin care should be based on three pillars, the one of which is this above mentioned sun protection. The remaining two pillars concern skin hydration – application of humectants and emollients. The former supplies skin with water molecules and bonds them inside dermis, whereas the latter reinforces hydro-lipid barrier and prevents water loss. Owing to these two substances, skin remains well-moisturized. It’s a good idea to use skincare products containing humectants and emollients on a daily basis.

RULE 5
Anti-ageing prevention concerns everyone.

If you think that anti-ageing face cream isn’t for you, you’re wrong. It was proven that from around the age of 25 human skin starts aging, which means that it begins to lose collagen and elastin both being responsible for keeping skin resilient. For that reason, you should introduce substances that fight back free radicals (antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10), that protect you from photoaging (UV filters), that intensively moisturize and revitalize skin (hyaluronic acid, vitamin E). Don’t forget about collagen that your skin might sometimes lacks. Once you take the preventive steps, you can be sure that your skin will remain youthful longer.

RULE 6
Hygiene is crucial.

Skin doesn’t like being dirty because this creates perfect environment for bacteria, which doesn’t have any positive effect on our dermis. Therefore, it’s important to cleanse this delicate skin of ours every day and free it from impurities – first either with oil or makeup remover, then with a face wash (e.g. cleansing gel) and then with a skin tonic that balances skin’s pH and leaves skin fresh. Obviously, sleeping with makeup is forbidden – this is crime against skin! Well-being of our skin depends on how thorough we are with cleansing it.
