Food or beauty products? Cocoa and oat flakes to improve your appearance

Undoubtedly, each of us at least once in their lifetime has used a beauty product that contained an edible substance. Do you know what food products have their application both in gastronomy and personal care? Here is a list of tasty cosmetics that are at the same time beautifying food products.

1. Cocoa

Cocoa isn’t only delicious and healthy but also it can be used as a replacement for a bronzer or eyeshadows. However, if you feel like using it as a cosmetic, you should choose raw and dark cocoa because all additives responsible for improving its taste may cause skin irritation.

To use cocoa as a bronzer you have to apply a tiny amount of it with an angled brush to your cheekbones. Despite smelling really good, it sadly stains clothes and isn’t long-wearing. If you want to give cocoa eyeshadows a try, reach either for a damp cotton pad or a q-tip, dust it with cocoa and run it along eyelids. What’s important to mention, cocoa eyeshadows suit brunettes better, which not necessarily can be said about blondes.

Additionally, you can also use cocoa to prepare a nourishing face mask, yet this isn’t an idea as surprising as cocoa bronzer or cocoa eyeshadows.

2. Honey

This tasty and healthy honey can be used either as a separate beauty product like for example a lip balm, or as an additive to enrich your face mask or scrub. Owing to its gooey consistency, honey is used as a bonding agent that holds the ingredients of homemade cosmetics together. What can you use honey for? Try adding it to coconut face peel or yogurt face mask.

3. Oat flakes

Similar “bonding” function is played by oat flakes that when soaked they keep each type of face mask and scrub tight. Try to grind it and combine with water.

4. Coconut shreds

Easy-accessible and cheap, shreds of coconut display abrasive properties which make them one of the best homemade cosmetic constituents. You can use coconut shreds to prepare a foot scrub – just combine them with a shower gel.

5. Matcha tea

This tea type is a common ingredient used in various face and body-improving preparations, therefore you shouldn’t be surprised that there are many homemade beauty products incorporating matcha. This powder is fat-soluble and offers plenty of health-improving substances. Face mask and nourishing body balms with matcha are two most recommended diy products to try out. How to prepare them? If you want to make a face mask, combine matcha with yogurt and either coconut shreds or avocado. Body balm has to be made by mixing matcha with coconut oil.

6. Apple vinegar

If possible, try to make your own apple vinegar and then thin in with water – this is how you create diy skin toner. How to use it? Take a cotton pad, damp it with the toner and wipe your face with it. What are the benefits of apple vinegar? In short, it shrinks skin pores and reinforces the hydro-lipid barrier of skin. When used regularly, it moisturizes skin, makes it smoother and prevents redness.

7. Baking soda

Owing to being antibacterial, baking soda makes teeth whiter, deals with bad breath and neutralizes sweat odor.
